Can the Omega-3 long chain fatty acids, EPA & DHA really help a mare's fertility?

The simple answer is YES!

It is essential that mares receive a well balanced diet with correct vitamins, minerals, calories and quality proteins in the 6 months prior to breeding. She will often be carrying a foal to term and her nutritional requirements are increased significantly during this time.

It is well know that Omega-3 supplementation is proven to boost fertility in broodmares, and some breeders are now utilising Omega 3 supplementation to increase the chances of a positive pregnancy after the first cycle of mating.

Following a mating, the natural inflammatory process starts in the mare's uterus to rid the body of semen, bacteria and other foreign bodies to reduce the chance of infection.

But some mares have a condition known as PPBEM (persistent post-breeding endometritis) which means their natural inflammatory process fails to work and the uterus ends up filling with fluid which is then toxic to the embryo, this extra fluid also affects sperm motility and the chance of a successful pregnancy is reduced.

Scientists believe this condition affects approximately 15% of the TB population and these mares are three times more likely to have early embryo loss.

What's so exciting is that research shows that by supplementing mares for 60 days prior to breeding, with Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, reduces the incidence of PPBEM.

PRIMEFORM is the only supplement that offers significant amounts of the Omega 3 fatty acids, ALA, EPA and DHA from a non fish source, and will certainly help your mare.
